What is TRiO?
TRiO – Student Support Services is a program committed to providing a supportive environment to improve academic performance, increase retention and assist with graduation and successful transfer to a 4-year institution to low-income, first generation students and students with a documented disability. TRiO provides comprehensive individualized services around academic support, mentoring, transfer and career guidance, money management and professional development.


Who is Eligible for TRiO
A student is eligible to participate in TRiO – Student Support Services if the student meets all of the following requirements:
- Identifies as one of the following:
- A low income student
- A first-generation college student (neither parent has a four-year college degree); or
- A student with a documented disability
- Is enrolled or accepted for enrollment as a degree seeking student, at Truman College
- Is a citizen or national of the U.S.
- Demonstrates a need for academic support
Students face a myriad of challenges and obstacles as they try to complete their degrees or certificates. TRiO-Student Support Services provides students with the support and guidance they need to overcome many of those obstacle. The program has been a part of the Truman College community since 2005 and have helped 1000's of students attain their academic and personal dreams! The percentages below represent the 2022-2023 cohort. Graduations percentages represent the 2019-2020 cohort.
